Costa Rica is blessed with diversity. Diversity in its people, landscapes and wildlife.

Costa Ricans, or Ticos, are known for their hospitality and generosity. The culture has been shaped by many outside influences, including Spanish explorers. Ticos are progressive and committed to social equality and democracy. Compared to other countries in the region, Costa Ricans have maintained a peaceful existence.

The people of Costa Rica also have a deep respect for nature. Despite its small size, the country boasts more than 5 percent of Earth’s life forms. About a quarter of the land has been protected and set aside as conservation areas.
